Dr. David Kim, Founder, Chief Executive Officer, has served in the company since 2008. Previously he was involved in over $15 billion of transactions on Wall Street, purchasing, selling, spinning out, and restructuring technology and consumer goods companies during the early 2000’s in Credit Suisse First Boston's Mergers & Acquisitions Investment Banking group, working with companies including Samsung Electronics, Advanced Micro Devices, Alpha Processor, General Electric, and Xerox. Subsequently, he spent stints at McKinsey and Co. developing business development and technology strategy and in venture capital focusing on seed stage companies. Dr. Kim has an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, an MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and a physics degree from Amherst College.

Bamshad Mobasher

Dr. Bamshad Mobasher is a Professor of Computer Science and the director of the Center for Web Intelligence at the School of Computing of DePaul University in Chicago. His research areas include Web mining, Web personalization, recommender systems, predictive user modeling, and information retrieval. Dr. Mobasher received his PhD at Iowa State University in 1994. Prior to DePaul he was an assistant professor of Computer Science at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, where he did some seminal work on Web mining and started some of the first research groups focusing on Web Usage Mining.

Dr. Mobasher is considered one of the leading authorities in the areas of Web mining, Web personalization, and recommender systems. He has published more than 120 scientific articles, numerous book chapters, and several edited books in these areas. He has served as an organizer and on the program committees of numerous related conferences, including as a program chair and steering committee member of the ACM International Conference on Recommender Systems. Some of his original articles on Web usage mining and personalization have citations indexes of 1000 or more. His work in these areas has been used by a variety of companies, including Amazon.com, as part of their analytics and personalization systems.

As the director of the Center for Web Intelligence, Dr. Mobasher is directing research in Web mining, Web analytics, and personalization, as well as overseeing several related joint projects with the industry. He has received more than $1.5 million from the National Science Foundation and from the industry in support of several research projects. His recent activities include co-editing a volume, “Intelligent Techniques for Web Personalization”, published by Springer, culminating from a series of successful international workshops on the same topic; and co-editing special issues of ACM Transactions on Internet Technologies and User Modeling and User Adapted Interaction on data mining for personalization. He has also been one of the founding organizers of the highly successful WebKDD workshops on Knowledge discovery on the Web which have been held at ACM SIGKDD conference for the past 10 years. Dr. Mobasher serves as an associate editor for the ACM Transactions on the Web and on the editorial boards of several other prominent computing journals, including User Modeling and User-Adapted Interaction, and the Journal of Web Semantics. Finally, Dr. Mobasher is privileged to have been selected as Co-Chair for RecSys 2011, the pre-eminent international conference on recommendation technology.

Toufeeq Ahmed

Dr. Toufeeq Ahmed has a PhD in Computer Science from Arizona State University. Recently, he won Arizona State University’s 2010 Challenges Innovator award for his dissertation project BioEve (http://www.bioeve.org/), which is a novel and innovative semantic faceted search engine for life sciences literature. He has years of experience in designing large scale information extraction and text mining systems and has led teams in number of international academic challenges such BioNLP Shared task (2009) and TREC (2005) genomics track . He also developed Data Rover, an automated agent for extracting product information from shopping portals, and a new technique for boosting item keyword search. Previously, he was lead in designing and developing MAISON project which provides accessible user interface/search to national digital library for individuals who are blind and visually impaired (http://maison.asu.edu). His areas of expertise include information extraction, text mining, information retrieval, semantic faceted search, adaptive user interfaces, natural language processing, machine learning techniques, data integration, and work with biomedical ontologies. He also holds a Masters degree in Computer Science from Arizona State University and Bachelors in Engineering (Computer Science).

Brian Sim
Chief Marketing Officer

Brian Sim, joined theophilus, inc. as the Chief Marketing Officer. Currently, he is the founder of Hoshi, a marketing strategy consultancy for CPG/pharmaceutical brands. Previously, he worked at Digitas Health, managing the digital marketing campaigns for brands such as Arimidex, Vimovo and Symbicort. He was also one of the original contributors in creating jagtag, a 2D mobile barcode technology that enables marketers to create universally accessible mobile marketing campaigns via physical world connections. He received his B.S. in Economics, with concentrations in Marketing and Communications from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
